Just over a year ago, Socio was acquired by Cisco and became part of the Webex family.

Back in March, we officially renamed Socio to Webex Events. At that time, we also mentioned that Webex Events would always continue to evolve.

Today, we want to introduce you to an exciting new component of our visual identity within the Webex family — the new Webex Events launch icon!

What is a launch icon?

If you’ve ever used a smartphone or a desktop application, you’re familiar with launch icons. It’s the graphic that represents an application (or “app”) on your device’s home screen or on your desktop.

While logos represent a brand or organization, an icon typically represents a brand’s specific services or products — in this case, the Webex Events (formerly Socio) product.

Ultimately, the Webex logo continues to represent the Webex brand, while our new launch icon will be used specifically to represent Webex Events applications within the larger Webex family.

What does the Webex Events icon represent?

The new Webex Events launch icon represents a group of people connecting — gathering with a purpose.

We decided to keep the orange as an homage to Socio’s legacy, itself a color that evokes the energy, creativity, and excitement of our team, product, and the events we support.

The shape is based on the Webex Helix logo (all Webex Suite icons have this style!). The shape’s movement in the icon represents the dynamic energy of events and communities, while the equal size and negative space is a nod to inclusivity and equitable event experiences for all — a mission that Cisco, Webex, and Webex Events are all incredibly passionate about.

What changes can we expect as a result of the new launch icon?

Starting today, you will begin to see the new launch icon on your devices and within our applications, as well as on the App store, on social media platforms, and 3rd party review sites like G2 and Capterra.

You will also notice that we have taken this opportunity to update the names of our apps. Check out the chart below to see what has changed!

You’ll notice that we’ve changed the names of each of our 3 apps in the various app stores (Apple & Google), but the launch icons for our Lead Retrieval and Onsite apps have not changed.  We’re saving those for another day. 🙂

The features and functionality of each of these apps will remain unchanged.

Here’s to creating connected event experiences for any event, and every audience!

In the year since we joined Webex, our team has grown, and we’ve continued to innovate our products.

In fact, since the rebrand from Socio to Webex Events back in March, G2 has named us one of the Best Marketing Software of 2022 and we’ve been named a leader in three primary event categories, including:

  1. Event Management Platforms
  1. Virtual Event Platforms
  1. Mobile Event Apps

We’re excited about this new visual representation of our offerings. The future of events is about creating meaningful, connected experiences. Now, with our new launch icon, our team, products, services, and visual identity are all aligned to this common mission.
